Cristine Reyes, other stars, not spared by 'Ondoy'

Even some celebrities felt the wrath of tropical storm 'Ondoy' as rising flood waters entered and ravaged their plush homes in Metro Manila.

Perhaps one of the most visible celebrities pleading for help is Cristine Reyes, who has been stranded along with her mother and younger brother on top of their two-storey home in Provident Village in Marikina City for almost nine hours as of 8 p.m. Saturday.

In a phone interview with GMA News' 24 Oras special coverage, Reyes pleaded for authorities to rescue them.

"Andito na kami sa roof. 'Pag 'di pa tumigil yung ulan aabutin na kami sa roof (We're already here on the roof. If the rains don't stop the waters will reach us)," Reyes said, her voice shaking.

According to her, some rescuers had already passed through their village but were unable to reach them. She also said street signs in their village have already been submerged in water, further making rescue efforts difficult.

Her sister, actress Ara Mina, had earlier asked rescuers to help her reach her family in Marikina. Reyes told GMA News that her sister was on her way.

Reyes had posted several photos of her in social-networking site Facebook to help rescuers locate them. The young actress said it was the first time in more than 30 years that floods reached that high in their village.
